Terms of Use

These conditions govern use of Shenandoah County Criminal History. Visiting a page, reading its content, or submitting a search means that you accept every term below. Do not continue to use the site if you disagree.

NO FCRA USE. This is a privately operated resource with no connection to a federal, Virginia, or Shenandoah County government body. Neither the site nor its advertising partners provides a service for credit, employment, tenant, insurance, or other decisions governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. The site helps readers locate official criminal-record sources. It is not a private investigation firm or consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This private reference site operates independently of every government office. It neither stores official records nor retrieves records, performs official checks, or files documents for a user.

Its role is to identify the custodians of Shenandoah County material, including the Sheriff's Office, Virginia courts, Virginia State Police CCRE, and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry, as well as optional outside research tools. Government access remains subject to the Virginia Freedom of Information Act and CCRE dissemination rules in Virginia Code §19.2-389.

2. Rules for Using This Site

You agree that you will not:

  • Use automated scrapers, bots, or similar tools against the pages
  • Attempt to enter restricted systems or bypass access controls
  • Stalk, threaten, or harass a person with information found here
  • Disrupt site performance or interfere with another visitor's access
  • Use the site in violation of federal, Virginia, or local law
  • Rely on the content for hiring, housing, lending, or insurance decisions

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No one may use site content or a linked tool to harass, stalk, intimidate, threaten, or unlawfully discriminate against a person. Virginia's Registry Act governs use of information from the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry, and misuse can carry criminal consequences. Registry publication supports public safety awareness, never vigilantism or a prohibited screening decision.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not create consumer reports, credit reports, or official background checks. Our advertising partners do not turn this site into a screening service. You agree that site data and linked tools will not be used to:

  • Set insurance premiums or assess creditworthiness
  • Evaluate a renter or housing applicant
  • Make a hiring or termination decision
  • Decide eligibility for a license, permit, or public program
  • Carry out any other FCRA-regulated purpose

A lawful, regulated check must come from an authorized official channel or a screening provider that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

Site content is not legal advice. General explanations of Shenandoah County records cannot determine how a charge, warrant, conviction, sealing rule, or expungement law applies to a person. Seek advice from a Virginia-licensed attorney.

6. No Warranties

All content and functions are supplied "as is." We make no promise that:

  • A partner search result will be complete or correct
  • The service will remain continuously available
  • Every detail is current, complete, and accurate
  • The pages contain no bug, error, or security weakness

Charges, outcomes, access status, and agency procedures change. Gaps may remain even after an update. Only the originating court or agency can give an official statement about its record.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links lead to government offices, court systems, legal-help groups, and private services that we do not control. We are not responsible for an outside site's availability, content, data practices, or fees. Review its own terms before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Shenandoah County Criminal History or its content partners own the site's text, graphics, logos, and code. Written permission is required to copy, alter, distribute, or create derivative works from that material.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the broadest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss arising from site use, including reliance on content obtained here or through a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to hold us harmless from claims, demands, or proceedings caused by your use of the site or breach of these terms, including related costs and legal fees.

11. Governing Law

Virginia law governs these terms. Any dispute tied to site use must be brought in a court located in Virginia.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms. A new version takes effect when it is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

We may restrict or end access at any time, with or without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one term is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue in force. The affected provision will be adjusted only as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be submitted through the Contact page.
