Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep a separate log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be retained long enough to respond and maintain the exchange. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive routine technical details when a page loads, including:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring site, when one is reported
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies stored on a device help measure traffic patterns, such as popular pages and exit points. Analytics providers combine that usage data for reporting. A browser can reject cookies, though some functions may then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Route a search request to the selected partner
- Diagnose faults and repair technical problems
- Measure which pages are useful or need improvement
- Operate the site and maintain its performance
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The site identifies where Shenandoah County records can be requested, including the Sheriff's Office, state courts, Virginia State Police CCRE, and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. Official access remains governed by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act and the CCRE dissemination limits in Virginia Code §19.2-389. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not compiled into a consumer report or a dossier about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. A partner's privacy policy, retention choices, and sharing rules apply to information entered there, and we do not control those practices. Review the provider's terms before running a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Shenandoah County Sheriff's Office, Virginia courts, state agencies, legal-help sources, or private search services. Once a reader leaves this site, the destination's privacy policy controls. Check it before providing personal details.
Some advertising companies may use their own systems to follow activity across sites and select interest-based ads.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. It may be disclosed to:
- Analytics providers that measure performance and traffic
- Search partners that process a submitted query
- Advertising networks that serve ads
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices protect the information we collect. No internet service can guarantee complete security, so we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If such data is identified, we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Depending on residence and statutory coverage, the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, Virginia Code § 59.1-575 et seq., may provide rights concerning personal data. Section 59.1-577 states the covered consumer rights. You may be able to:
- Opt out of covered forms of data processing
- Request deletion of covered personal data
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Request access to personal data held about you
